DRIMPTON FARE SHARE SCHEME PROVES POPULAR
NUTRITIOUS FOOD HELPS LOCAL PEOPLE AND REDUCES WASTE
A FareShare scheme now operating from Drimpton Village Hall distributes surplus food to local people at very low cost is proving popular. The initiative by the NHS & Dorset Council is jointly led locally by Jacqui Sewell along with fellow Broadwindsor Group Parish Councillor, Yvonne White.
Jacqui says: “We started this initiative in June and already 37 families are benefiting from the scheme every week. The surplus food is nutritious and good to eat, and would be destroyed if it was not re-distributed.”
FareShare is a membership scheme where members pay a small weekly fee to receive a bag with a variety of produce. Anyone in the parish area is eligible to become a member with a maximum of 50 members.
